The Enigmatic Object was split into two parts, a realistic drawing of a metal object on aged paper completed within two days and another much larger piece of an object with text created over the course of three to four weeks. While both pieces were done using charcoal, the first piece employed an additive method for drawing, whereas the other, a subtractive and additive method.
The first step was to take strong reference images that would hopefully make the drawing process simpler and more enjoyable.
For aging the paper, I used coffee and tea initially but also started to mix it with watercolor to add a hint of red here and there. The process of drawing this was very quick so there was little to no process for it.
The outcome. I am very happy with this. My favorite part is the reflection of the spoon and the shadow behind it as it fades away.
With the aid of the other reference picture, I began work on the final piece. Due to the size of the paper I was working on, it took me a very long time to complete it. It was fun documenting it throughout this process as it slowly emerged and transformed into the final outcome. One criticism I would probably make is that the text did not work with image as I thought it would.  Overall though, I am satisfied with the outcome.
