This artwork was an exploration in identity and diversity through the library stacks. It attempts to recreate and reinterpret the notion of identifiers: DNA, fingerprints, ID, barcodes and relink it to the library stacks. Seven individuals were photographed and asked to pick 6 books from the library that interest them. The photographs were sliced in long strips based on the thicknesses of said books, and then reordered based on their RGB information. The strips were also rotated in some cased based on the same RGB information. The last form of identifiers overlaid parts of the books with the corresponding strips. The result are tapestries of identity; each tapestry is rich with color, detail, pattern and symmetry. Above all, what sets this identifier apart from others is its subjective and very specific nature. The individuals have a choice in picking the books, and therefore, a choice in shaping their own identities. They could change their choices, and therefore their identities change as well. It tells us that this is our identity at a point in time and space.
