The Morris Moderne is a reinterpretation of the original chair designed by William Morris. The original Morris chair was the epitome of function and comfort. For a product that was first sold a century and half ago, this reinterpretation asks the questions: What would a modern Morris chair look like? What would the modern user consider functional, but also beautiful? More importantly, how would William Morris design the Morris chair in the 21st century? The Morris Moderne is a chair for the modern user, with features such as lighting, power outlets, as well as phone and coffee cup holders integrated within the armrests. The lighting integrated here frames the chair and makes it stand out. It is also really functional for reading in a dim space without being too bright. A sense of the traditional materiality has been preserved through the use of wood,with modern materials like microfibers, and brass.
